Empty Inbox??? Is it possible?

Organizing and reading work and  personal emails can fill up 24 hours in a day. But, we all need to sleep at some point. So, here are some tips on how to organize your email inbox. On average people receive 40-100 messages per day. All you need is one hour of uninterrupted time to deal with it.

  1. Make folders:
  • To read – (reference) information that you want to keep.
  • Take Action (must do) information you must have to complete an action.
  • Sub Folders ideas : Personal, parties or inspirational quotes. etc.

2. Check and organize your emails 3 times a day. Once in the morning, 12noon then at 4:30pm. Make sure this time is uninterrupted.
3. Turn off the automatic email receiving acknowledgments. (This always helps with being focused on other tasks.)

4. Organize your incoming emails by date.

5. Make a decision within 15 seconds. What should I do with this email?

  • Delete it  – do I need this?
  • Do it –  do it in 2 minutes.
  • Delegate it – If you can’t delete it or do it – Delegate it now.
  • Defer it – to the “Take Action” file. or set an appointment to get it done.

6. Don’t be afraid to unsubscribe to unwanted emails.
